13 Amazing Tools for an Amazing YOU in 2013

13 Amazing Tools for an Amazing YOU in 2013

By Tarun Soni and Alpha Sanford

Life does not give you a house without having to build the house one section at a time. That section of the house including its posts and beams do not come attached to each other, rather you need tools to put them solidly together.

As in building a house, life is like that.

You need tools.

You need guidance.

You need more than your hands.

Below are 13 powerful tools for 2013 to make this year more meaningful, happier and successful:

1. Prayer – and if you do not pray, take silence. The power of being quiet is immeasurable. Try two minutes a day and you will find yourself more fulfilled and more confident.

2. Positive Attitude – it’s easy to be influenced by the negative forces around – but if you allow yourself to be surrounded just with positive energy and let that kind of energy surround you, the negative forces will just repel on its own.

3. Do what makes you happy – and yes, do it often. If you do not like what you do – then, find some ways to like it. If, even after trying you still do not find a tiny spark of fun in what you do, then it is time to stop and find what makes your heart leap!

 4. Avoid being argumentative – and if you can’t – then agree to disagree. You are a rationale being and having the reason to live, you know what it means to “don’t sweat the small stuffs”.

 5. Put down your pride – unless you are a tiger or a lion. You do not need your pride. Only people who have nothing to show will have their pride all over their bodies – because that is the only thing they have.

 6. Love – and that what makes the world go around and around. It is cozy, it is snuggly – it is the best feeling you can ever have. And if you have it, it shows from the inside to the outside. You’ll just find yourself more radiant!

 7. Control you anger – ever of anger management?

 8. Do not expect any thing from anyone at all – If you give, you give because you want to not because you have. You give, because you want to make the person happy without having to expect anything in return.

 9. Expect the unexpected – be surprised! Let the magic of what is unexpected bring you joy. Be open for impossibilities to happen. Be grateful for life’s biggest surprises.

 10. Be productive – and use your time wisely. Being busy without a purpose is just a waste of your time. When you are busy purposefully, then you know you are making the most of your day productively!

11. Accept, what is and as it is – the universe knows why things happen. You know there are things that may be unexplainable at the moment, but as time goes and if you are willing to accept as it is you will slowly see the reasons behind it.

12. Smile – it is a free gift! So give it to anyone who needs it and remember it is contagious and if you catch one do not be the last one to stop the chain. Be the person who will continue to spread the chain of smiles!

13. Have peace. Spread peace – in whatever way you can. Stay calm. Create peace at home, in your heart and with yourself. But the most important thing is for you to start it within yourself – peace can not be shared unless you have it inside.

Which one of these tools shall you keep for the year? OR

Will you keep them all?

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” – Albert Einstein

  • Believe in God.
  • Believe in self.
  • Believe if we do good, good will only return to us.
  • Believe when we are doing right, all four directions will generate positive energy to help us.
  • Believe if we stand in-front of problems, we will get solutions.
  • Believe you are a phoenix and any setback will not affect you.
  • Believe that the duties, which you are performing whole heartedly towards family, profession, society and Nation with sincerity and integrity, will bring happiness and self-contentment.

Diamonds are Forever

If you want to become a successful person you need to develop the characteristics of a diamond. Diamond is the most precious stone among all stones and admired worldwide by men and women both. It has the following characteristics called 4Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat.

Out of four characteristics mentioned above, the 4th one is the most important because the cost of the diamond is determined from its carat, and the diamond with higher carat, costs more. Diamond is a form of carbon but when it is finished properly it becomes diamond, and the same way a human can polished himself and can become a Diamond.

The characteristics of the “Diamonds” (successful persons) are : Curiosity, Courage, Consistency, &Confidence.

An individual who is curious about his surroundings and courage to learn from it, consistent in his personal and professional performance and has good confidence to chase his dream, is heading to become a “Diamond”. Out of the four characteristics “confidence” is the most important and essential characteristic of a Diamond.

So be a diamond, because as you know Diamonds are forever.

Do you find 4Cs in you?

Do not Leave your Karma.

Do not leave your Karma (Duty) in any conditions.

There is an interesting story regarding Karma (duty) in our Hindu Mythology. As per our Hindu Mythology, God Indra is Rain God and he is responsible for making rain. And God Shiva playsDamru (Musical Instrument) when it rains.

Once there was no rain for continuous three years. It was totally the condition of drought. All human beings including flora and fauna were affected with the severe drought.

Goddess Parvati (Wife of God Shiva) was worried about the drought and decided to visit the drought affected place along with Lord Shiva in disguise. They both became farmers and started surveying the drought area.  The condition was worst; the land was totally dried up and not suitable for farming. There was an acute shortage of food due to drought.

While surveying in a village they were amazed, one farmer was ploughing his field in scorching heat. Both Gods, (who disguised their identities)  were surprised and asked the farmer, “When there is no rain why are you ploughing your field?”  The farmer smiled and replied, “It is not possible for me to make rain because it’s the duty of God Indra and now it is field ploughing season, and I am performing my Karma (duty) of ploughing the field, as its my duty. If I do not perform my duty a situation may arise that I may forget the technique of farming.”

By hearing the reply of the farmer the Goddess Parvati told to God Shiva, this poor farmer is performing his Karma (duty) in this condition of drought, so that he must not forget the farming and I think God Indra has forgotten his duty of making rain but you do not forget to play Damru, please play your Damru so that God Indra may remember his duty and make rain and God Shiva played the Damru and the rain started.

Moral of the story?  We must not forget our Karma in any conditions!

What are the characteristics of a true citizen?

What are the characteristics of a true citizen?

What are the characteristics of a true citizen?

To define this aspect, I have developed a formula of 5Rs.

1st R:          Respect for the Parents. (Behavioural development)

2nd R:          Respects for the Teachers. (Educational development)

3rd R:           Respect for the Society. (Moral and Social development)

4th R:           Respect for the Nation. (Patriotism and leadership

 development)

5th R:          Self Respect (that is Self Realisation)

An individual with the quality of 5Rs is what I think a True Citizen. He will not be a perfectionist but a person with values, integrity and responsibilities, who can execute all his action with at-most care towards the benefit of the society and well being of his fellow countrymen without any fear or greed.

Do you strive to be a true citizen?

Who is the Teacher?

Who is the Teacher?

Photo of Sherri Kennedy

By TK Soni

Primary learning begins at home but secondary and formal learning starts from school. The school is considered as a second home for most kids. Teachers are one of the more influential people in the lives of our children. Teachers are those who impart education to students who will be tomorrow’s leaders.

In our Indian culture, we call teacher “the Guru”, Gu means darkness andRu means light; which when put the syllables together it means “a person who takes you out of the darkness in order to see light”. The primary and main aim of an ideal teacher is to prepare the student with the vision of leadership, through motivated educational system. The thought is that Mothers bring children to this World, but Teachers bring the World to them.

A Teacher is a leader, who is always dynamic and believes in change and have the capacity to prepare future leaders and develop in them the skills that they may need to succeed in the future. A Teacher who leads understands the human aspect of living; not just someone who is all about academic standards or just following the national curriculum. A Teacher who leads knows exactly what the world needs, what her student needs. She is compassionate, warm, lovable, optimistic, kind and well-meaning person.  She offers not just  the time of the day at school  – rather she offers her life to the children she teaches. She is confident in her students; she gets to their sprits and empowers them to grow, mature and develop into the best possible citizen for the future.

To all teachers out there –

–         whether you are out in the streets peddling your cart full of books (think Efren Penaflorida, CNN Hero of the Year 2009);

–         whether you are in the deep end of the jungle carving your own corner to teach under a tree;

–         whether you are giving lectures at the vast ocean (think about the children whom the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation serves)

–         or, inside the comfort of your room.

Please know that you are the hope of the nation.

Please know that whoever you choose to empower and help become our future, you inspire us – and we want you to know that!

Relationships

Relationships

Human beings are indispensable part of the society. Put it this way, the world is woven with dots. These dots are people who make up the fabric of the earth. This society where we live is composed of relationships; we are related to each other in some ways other than one. We exist because of association and building relationships. Relationships are the basis of our existence.

Take a look around you and count who among the people you have talked to today are related to you. You’ve got a partner, a husband, a wife, a friend, a sister, a brother, a mom, a Dad, your neighbour, your classmate, your work mate, your classmate in high school or in college, your co-attendee to a workshop, your stock broker, your accountant, your child’s teacher, your…..we can go on and on.

And the reality is…we are connected in more ways than one.

You and me: I, being the writer and you, being the reader – for one.

There is the connection! There is the relationship. There is the start of another relationship.

And why are we interconnected? What are the benefits of being related in ways you may not think of?

Some of them are listed below:

1. Relationships give us strength.

2. Relationships motivate us.

3. Good relationships increase understanding.

4. Strong relationships create dependency and interdependency.

5. Healthy relationships create happiness.

So, whether you like it or not, you and I are somewhat related. But the key to it is to nurture it more, develop it and you will surely benefit from a mutual process of living in a great society.

Be Your Own Celebrity

Photo of Angela B.

By TK Soni

Who is a celebrity?

Do you want to be a celebrity? Do you want to stand out of the ordinary?

We all are awesome creations of  God. Our Life is divine bliss of God. God has created us and blessed us all with a body that has two hands, two legs, one head, one brain, one heart. God’s creation is the greatest in this universe and so are YOU.

A celebrity is as common as you are. Yes, YOU are!

However, my question is: why then are you chasing them, when you can become your own celebrity?

An ordinary person who has dreams and works hard to achieve it, can easily become a celebrity.

So, how can you transform yourself from a regular guy to somebody whom every individual this side of the planet goes gaga for?

One suggestion I have is: To Be your own Celebrity.

You have to first identify your strengths, then your limitations. Try to develop or acquire the quality/talent which fascinates you and try to improve yourself day by day. I would suggest making a daily challenge with yourself. Remember it’s only you who can transform a common man into somebody who is extraordnary. So, do it! Develop what you’ve got!

Another suggestion I have is: To Dream big. You have to set your priorities, and strive towards it. With consistent practice and effort, you know that one day you will find the Celebrity in you.

Lastly, I would like you to think through this quote.

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” – Albert Einstein.

Now, how would you like to be your own celebrity?
